Malta punches far above its size when it comes to fine dining. The Michelin restaurants in Malta range from a two-star tasting menu over the Grand Harbour to relaxed seafood kitchens that the MICHELIN Guide recommends without a star.
Choosing between them is harder than finding them. This guide explains what each one does best, so you can match the restaurant to the occasion. All of them are part of my luxury top 10, with menus, photos and opening hours.
Malta's two-star restaurant
ION Harbour by Simon Rogan
ION Harbour is Malta's only two-MICHELIN-star restaurant. It sits on the fourth floor of the Iniala hotel in Valletta, with views over the Grand Harbour. The long tasting menu is built on produce grown, reared or caught in Malta, and the service is friendly and knowledgeable.

One-star restaurants
Each of these kitchens holds one MICHELIN star, but they could hardly be more different.
Fernandõ Gastrotheque, Sliema
A small, intimate dining room on Tigné Street with seasonal tasting menus and a wine list of more than 600 labels, one of the best on the island.

Book it for: wine lovers. The room is small, so seating can feel tight.
Noni, Valletta
Chef Jonathan Brincat reinterprets Maltese and Mediterranean dishes with classic French technique. It is the best choice if you want a starred meal with a clear sense of place.

Under Grain, Valletta
Set in a vaulted cellar on Merchants Street, Under Grain offers an à la carte menu as well as tasting menus, which is rare at this level.
Book it for: a starred dinner without a three-hour tasting menu.
Rosamì, St Julian's
A Maltese villa above Balluta Bay with a romantic first-floor dining room and surprise tasting menus of six or eight courses. It also received the 2026 Michelin Service Award.

Le GV, Sliema
On the 11th floor of the 1926 Le Soleil hotel, with two dining rooms inspired by the Orient Express and a panoramic terrace in summer. It earned its star just months after opening.
Book it for: atmosphere and views.
De Mondion, Mdina
On the top floor of the Xara Palace inside Mdina's walls, with 180-degree views across Malta from the terrace. It is outside the central area, but worth the trip for a special night.
